Client: Pozzani (Filtersfera brand)
Case study
Filtrosphere (Pozzani) – Painless migration from Merce and building a new eCommerce architecture
Why did the company decide to migrate from Merce?
As sales scaled, the existing eCommerce platform based on the Merce engine began to generate increasing operating costs.
The platform offered support and capabilities, but necessary changes required engaging the vendor each time. Acquiring operational data, updating ERP integrations, and making store modifications—everything was possible, but each time entailed a relatively high additional cost and long waiting times. With the growing dynamics of omnichannel sales, the total cost was no longer acceptable.
The company needed technology that would not only solve current problems but also allow for the easy launch of new business lines (including a B2B channel) in the future without the need to implement additional systems. After thorough market research, the client chose an ecosystem built around our Sellina system (based on Magento 2) and Akeneo PIM.
Migration from Merce and data centralization – challenges and project goals
The most important business challenge was to unlock sales potential through technological change while maintaining sales continuity and data security. The project's main goals included:
Safe migration from Merce engine
Transferring the filtrosfera.pl store to the Sellina B2B+B2C eCommerce system in a smooth and unnoticeable manner for end customers.
Building a central product repository (PIM)
Implementation of the Akeneo PIM system to once and for all organize the product database and improve offer management across multiple channels (store, Allegro),
Extensive integration with OMS Apilo
Replacing the native Magento connector built into Apilo with a dedicated integration to automate order processing and exchange information on stock levels and prices.
The foundation for B2B development
Selection of technology (Sellina) that will enable the launch of a B2B platform and additional stores within the same architecture in the future, without additional licensing costs.
How to Build a New E-Commerce Platform in 5 Months? PIM and Sellina Implementation Stages
The project's execution was exceptionally fast and precise. We completed the entire digital transformation process in just a few months, completing the following stages:
PIM implementation and data modeling
We co-created the data model in Akeneo PIM, trained the team, and integrated PIM with the Enova 365 ERP system. The client's team's involvement was crucial, ensuring that the modeling process ran smoothly despite the large number of technical parameters and categories.
Sellina implementation and data feeding
At the same time, we launched a new version of the store, feeding it with structured, high-quality data directly from PIM.
Dedicated integration with Apilo
Since the native Apilo connector for Magento had significant limitations (, we decided to build our own solution.
Data Migration and Go-Live
We completed the final migration of the customer and order database from Merce, completing the project with a successful production launch.
What to do when the native connector (Apilo for Magento) limits work with data?
During the project, we identified critical limitations of the native Apilo connector for Magento.
What was missing from the standard solution?
01
Too narrow scope of exchanged data.
02
No possibility to modify information.
03
No control over the cyclicality of data downloads.
For a business of this scale, this was an unacceptable compromise. Our development team developed a proprietary integration using APIs. This created an efficient environment for automated data exchange that successfully competes with the most popular OMS systems on the market (such as Base – formerly BaseLinker), giving the client complete control over the timing and scope of synchronization.
Fast migration, data centralization and full control
What has Filtrosphere gained thanks to the Sellina platform?
The project for Filtrosphere is a perfect example of how changing an eCommerce platform doesn't have to be painful, and standard solutions can be effectively improved.
Migrate from Merce without customer worries
The process of switching platforms often evokes anxiety among e-commerce owners. In this case, we demonstrated that migrating to Sellina can be quick, stable, and painless. The client gained a new level of technological sophistication, saying goodbye to the limitations of the previous system.
Centralization of knowledge
Akeneo PIM became the primary product knowledge base for internal use. This allowed team members to securely manage their offerings without requiring access to the main e-commerce system, significantly improving data security standards.
Proprietary Magento integration with Apilo
The standard, native integration between Magento and Apilo proved insufficient for the client's needs, so our development team wrote a custom connector using the API, creating a stable and efficient connection.
Fast implementation pace
Thanks to efficient cooperation and the use of ready-made modules in Sellin, building the entire new digital architecture (new eCommerce + PIM + OMS) took 5 months.
Flexibility in design (UX/UI)
The client had extensive experience and analytical data, so they had precise requirements for the store's appearance. Sellina proved flexible enough that we easily adapted the layout to their specific guidelines, optimizing the shopping path based on the client's expertise.
Technological freedom
By switching to an open source architecture and proprietary integrations, Pozzani has freed itself from the constraints of its SaaS provider. The team no longer has to wait in support queues for every minor change and has regained full control over its eCommerce development.
