Migration to Magento 2
Changing your B2B/B2C eCommerce platform isn't just a technical matter. It's a business decision that impacts sales processes, ERP integration, Google visibility, and customer service continuity.
Which platforms do we migrate from most often?
There's no single typical starting point. Clients come to us from all walks of life:
SaaS platforms
When a store grows beyond what SaaS can offer without workarounds and customization.
Open Source Platforms
Often after years of accumulating technical debt or after incorrect implementation by other teams.
ERP-related systems
When the platform was part of the ERP package and over time it stopped meeting sales requirements.
Dedicated and hybrid
Custom-built systems that are expensive to maintain or block development.
When does it make sense to change platforms?
There are a few specific signals that tell you it's time to move to a different solution.
The current platform requires more and more workarounds – each new feature is a fight against the system's limitations.
ERP integration does not work properly or requires constant manual operation.
The store supports B2B sales, but the platform was designed for B2C.
The costs of maintenance and development exceed what the system provides.
Dependence on a single contractor blocks autonomy – every change depends on a single supplier.
What does migration from Cognize look like?
Migration is an implementation project with an additional stage
We don't consider migration a standalone service. It's a full Magento 2 implementation—including pre-implementation analysis, technical design, and ERP integration—plus a data migration phase. This typically requires an additional two weeks of work.
What elements are we migrating to the new system?
We determine the scope of data migration individually during the analysis phase. We most often migrate products, prices, and customer data. Order history—depending on your needs.
Downtime and sales continuity
The platform switchover takes place within a maximum of one day – often at night, when traffic is at its lowest. The old platform will continue to operate normally throughout the project. Orders placed up to the time of the switchover are processed on the old system.
What about SEO when migrating to another technology?
There are always drops after migration. It's not a bug—it's a natural search engine response to a change in site structure. However, these drops can be significantly reduced.
We create a complete map of 301 redirects from old URLs to new ones. We collaborate with the client's SEO agency or advise on how to prevent redirects. Staging allows you to test the entire structure before publishing.
If positioning is critical to the business, we discuss this topic in detail already at the Pre-Implementation Analysis stage.
Magento migration costs
Migration to Magento 2 is a project priced individually – the scope depends on the source platform, the number of products and customers, the complexity of the ERP integration and the scope of migrated data.
Each project element—analysis, implementation, integration, and data migration—is priced separately. We prepare a detailed quote after conducting a Pre-Implementation Analysis.
