Ostrowski Handel Internetowy is a leading Polish e-commerce distributor of sockets and switches, as well as a wider range of electrical products. It owns online stores such as DobreGniazdka.pl, LuxMarket.pl, OtoLampy.pl, KableSklep.pl, and DomofonySklep.pl.

We began working together in 2014, immediately embarking on programming work that resulted in development and optimization. We redesigned the then-current online store's interface, based on current trends and UX/UI best practices. We also developed a marketing communications strategy, implementing available analytical tools, taking care of SEO, and managing Google Ads campaigns.

Comparison of online store results

Rescue for the platform

Revenue growth of +550% from all OHI stores

The new version of the platform, once in a crisis that threatened bankruptcy, is consistently generating higher sales. With hindsight, we can say that this significant business growth is largely due to the attitude and trust of our client, with whom we maintain a true partnership.

PWA

Over 70% of internet traffic comes from mobile devices

When working on OHI stores, we went a step further than just RWD. We replaced the responsive website with a web application – a Progressive Web App. Such an application can increase conversion rates by up to 75%, which is why we decided to use a PWA / Headless design.

PWA

What does the implementation of Progressive Web App mean in practice for OHI store users?

In addition to potentially increasing conversions, PWAs also offer important benefits for online store users. Primarily, they ensure fast loading times even on slow connections (such as 3G). By preserving some data and resources in the page cache, the app responds quickly to every user action, such as when switching screens on a phone, even with limited internet access.

The ability to add a shortcut to the home screen also makes it easier to use the store, because you don't have to enter the website address in the browser every time.

The tablet and smartphone display the online store checkout interface on a blue background. The OtoLampa online product basket is displayed on the tablet and smartphone, showing lighting products along with the quantity and order fulfillment options.

Advertising campaigns = ROI analysis. We scale advertising activities.

Thanks to constant ROI analysis, we can successfully scale our high-profit advertising activities at the expense of less profitable investments.

All of the store's advertising activities are constantly monitored, not only in terms of budget implementation or transaction volume. Together with OHI, we pay special attention to the real return on investment in paid channels.

We have modified approximately 90% of the CMS system functionality

When we began working with the client, their CMS was already relatively well-developed but outdated. Since we began working on the system, we've modified approximately 90% of its functionality.

These changes were implemented over the last four years in a gradual and non-invasive manner, thus having a positive impact on our client's results.

Dedicated tools – Puchacz and Ceneo Analyzer

Puchacz – a system for automatic integration with suppliers, collects prices and stock levels and updates them, and also informs when the price change is relatively large and requires user intervention.

Ceneo Analyzer – a system for monitoring competitive prices via the Ceneo API. It compares and ranks the price group of other stores with the CMS prices, informing the user how to adjust the margin to make the selling price more competitive with other stores.

System architecture

The system is composed of five servers that communicate with each other. Upon accessing the store's website, the user's browser connects to the LB (Load Balancer) server, which redirects the user to one of the application servers (APP1, APP2). The server is selected based on service availability and system traffic.

Application servers run programs that perform all calculations. They write to and read from the database (the database resides on the DB server), and generate a response that the user sees in the browser. The response is then forwarded to the LB server, which returns it to the browser, which then displays it to the user. The DEV server hosts developer versions of the stores, backups of application files, and the database.

Implementation of the Akeneo PIM system and integration with Magento

Due to the very diverse nature of the client's offering, we built a dedicated product link scheme that enabled the handling of a group product – a non-standard type – in the Akeneo system.

We also supported the client with consultations regarding changes at the Akeneo integrator level, and as a result, we integrated the PIM system with the Magento engine . This accelerated the entire product data update process, as information entered in one place is immediately visible in stores.

Additionally, we implemented a product database adapted to support multiple sales channels, the implementation of which was aimed at facilitating product data management.
