Case study: Akeneo PIM implementation for FCA - a powerful and secure PIM system integrated with ERP transmitting data through an intermediary database.

FCA is an integrator and manufacturer of fiber optic solutions for teletransmission networks.

In the project, we depended on the organization of a plurality of product data differing in very detailed attribution, and on the automation of processes. A very important feature of the solution used was the maximization of system independence and data security with the use of an intermediary database.

The original goal: the need to digitize sales

During the initial discussions, FCA had a precise goal of implementing a B2B sales system. Accordingly, once the decision to cooperate was made, we proceeded with a pre-implementation analysis. After the process was completed, the answer was clear - we need to focus on the implementation of the PIM system.

Creation of a product model

The generation of a product model was the key to the smooth creation of the database. Thanks to the model, it was possible to feed Akeneo's PIM system with products and attributes in bulk, without fear of errors or duplicates. We advised from the very beginning on, for example, the selection of atrubut types or the indication of the correct division into families / sets of attributes, based on the experience of our consultants.

Implementation of Akeneo's PIM system and products

After the model, we proceeded to implement Akeneo's PIM system in the Community Edition and supported the company in implementing product data. Due to the lack of digitized product attribution data and a unified DAM, we assisted with the implementation of product groups prepared according to the data model.

Integration with ERP Enova365

The company was using Enova365 for comprehensive business management, which required dedicated integration. Ensuring maximum security for our client's resources, we decided to use an intermediary database. As a result, only the most necessary information, which does not interfere with the ERP system, goes to the PIM Akeneo system.

Product card and catalog generation module

Based on the created descriptions and product features that are in Akeneo's PIM system, we created a system that generates ready-made product cards and catalogs.

In this way, FCA saves time for the graphics department to process marketing materials, because freely customizable catalogs are available on the spot. In addition, employees can create a perfectly customized catalog in a matter of minutes, without having to involve additional people in the process.
